Eric Bailly - Jose Mourinho's first Man United signing

Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Eric Bailly, an African 22 year old centre back, for an undisclosed fee (estimated at 30 million euros) from Spanish club Villareal. Eric is still subject to a work permit, and has a signed a four year contract with an option of an extension upto two years.
Reportedly, Pep Guardiola had shown interest in the African defender during his tenure at Bayern Munich, and it was expected that he would reignite his interest when he signed for Manchester City, but it was the Red side of Manchester which finally acquired the services of Bailly.

Talking to Man United's reporters' about the move, Bailly said, "It is a dream come true to be joining Manchester United. To play football at the highest level is all I have ever wanted to do. I want to progress to be the best that I can be and I believe working with Jose Mourinho will help me develop in the right way and at the right club. I am looking forward to meeting my new team-mates and to starting this new chapter of my life."

Jose Mourinho was equally excited by the first signing in his Manchester United. Talking to the reporters of the club's official website, Jose said, "Eric is a young central defender with great natural talent. He has progressed well to date and has the potential to become one of the best around."

I, personally, am pleased with this signing as Eric is very young, tall and powerful, the last two being traits that a central defender should possess. All i know is that he could be Mourinho's Zouma in Manchester United.

Eric is the first every player from Ivory Coast in the club, and coincidentally is from the same town as Manchester City's Wilfred Bony, and all we can hope for is that he proves to be a more fruitful signing than Bony.
